Project Ideas

I was looking through one of the books I got from the library and found this little cutie. Is anyone interested in making one of these? It has a zipper which is something I need to work on! Let me know!

Another Idea

So as I was looking around I saw this. There is a tutorial here: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/01/childs-activity-bag.htmlThought this would be cute to put color books and scribble pads in!

Art Portfolio

Here is the portfolio that I have come up with. It holds 40 crayons and a 9x12 art pad. I haven't exactly got the answer for the thing I would rather use for a stiffing agent to make it keep it's shape a little better but I am thinking pellon might be the answer. You will need a total of about 1 1/4 yard of fabric. I had 5/8 or the yellow and flowered and used a scrap of the pink. You will also need a scrap of interfacing for the handles, 6x14in will do. If you have any questions please comment on here and I'll get back to you. Also I think I would put a pocket on the ourside, the other thing I forgot was the closure elastic, you use a pony holder and a buttone so make sure you bring that too! I like it but I think there is definatly a way to make it better. I will be trying another one of these before we meet so I will let you know if I come up with any changes or suggestions.

Also, if you need fabric JoAnns is having a 40% off sale of their Keepsake Calico starting the 17th thru the 19th I think. One of the best sales of that that they have all year and they've got some pretty cute stuff to pick from!

Sewing for January 2010

We are planning on getting together and sew FINALLY!! Now that Christmas is over and the kids are back in school I feel all ready to start some new projects!! So Tonia and I were talking about doing crayon, note pad portfolios, something that looks like this:

The thing I don't like about this is it only holds a 6x9 note pad and I want one that holds a 9x12 note pad so Melanie is going to help us transform something like this into a larger version. If you don't want to do this project that is fine just bring what you would like to work on, if you do want to make one of these I will post the supplies as soon as we get the pattern figured out! Hope to see you there!
